Rhythms of Resistance is a dance concert with live music that centers the history, traditions and cultural significance of Tap Dance, Son Jarocho (music and dance from Veracruz, MX) and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Highlighting company tap dance repertoire, traditional Son Jarocho sones (songs that include footwork as percussion) and excerpts of La Mezcla productions, Rhythms of Resistance is a high-energy, interactive, adaptable performance that provides context to each tradition, and rhythmic activities that engage with audience members. This concert can be adapted for theater presentations, community venues, outdoor performance spaces and assembly spaces, and is suitable for audiences of all ages.
